What an eventful 2 weeks! I’m honestly exhausted. We finally hosted our first guest here in ‘straya! We did so much while Nic was here, pretty much planned every single day out. The first day we went down to Sorrento – I made the guys get in and snorkel – it was so chilly this day! Haha they were so mad it was so cold. I think the water was like 60 degrees F they said. Nic took some really awesome GoPro footage so I can’t wait to see what he does with it! The snorkel gear was from Aldi and for $20 it was really nice stuff! I can’t wait for a warmer day so I can get in and snorkel some too.
Phillip Island is just a few hours away and it has one of the best wildlife parks. We stopped there one of the days and then took him around to see all the pretty sights on the island as well. I still can’t get over how colorful everything is…I honestly barely have to edit the photos I take (most of them are from my iPhone – I’m being lazy with my camera lately :-().
On Sunday morning we road-tripped it to Wilsons Promontory which is is National Park and also the most southern tip of Australia! Every single place we stopped was breathtaking. Tons of beaches, huge sand dunes, wildlife areas, and lots of hiking trails. The sand dunes were amazing – probably my favorite part. It’s so quiet and they just go on and on for which seems like miles and we had them all to ourselves. A lot of the park info said to be careful because people get lost in them!
Robbie surprised us and we stayed in an amazing 70s retro style AirBnB for the night! It was seriously the coolest AirBnB ever! The people that owned the property had at least 4 of these camper vans throughout their 100 acre property which also had alpacas, mini horses and tons of other random adorable animals! If you’ve ever seen an alpaca in real life–how hilarious are they? To me they look like a cartoon. The owners even said they have koalas that just chill out in the trees and lots of their guests get to see them but we unfortunately didn’t see any while we were there. It was so much fun! We watched the sun set from our camper van, and then once the sun went completely down we saw every single star in the sky. We seriously saw the milky way and it was BREATHTAKING!!!! I tried so hard to get pictures but I suck at the nighttime stuff so it will just lay in my memory! Can’t wait to go back!
We were so lucky enough to experience the Australian open while Nic was here too! it was actually really interesting seeing how quiet everyone got…I feel like when it’s quiet I can’t ever stop laughing. We watched a match with Dennis Instomin!
We showed him around the city – Rooftop Bars, Aquarium, Eureka Skydeck, Crown Casino (which he won $250!), Restaurants, Graffiti Laneways, gave him the best cup of coffee he’ll probably ever have…you name it! Oh and how could I forget–Espresso Martinis!!! The best cocktail you’ll ever drink. We had such a fun touristy-yet-adventurous 2 weeks! Thanks for coming Nic!!! Love you!
